Women’s Fund of Posey County Announces Grant Recipients
The Women’s Fund, held by the Posey County Community Foundation, is pleased to announce that grants totaling $19,327 were awarded to thirteen organizations. This year’s list of grant recipients are:
· Chemo Buddies to provide all of the new cancer patients from Posey County with comfort kits.
· The Isaiah 1:17 Project to provide a discounted shopping experience for foster families for children in their care at Christmas.
· Family Matters of Posey County, Indiana, Inc. to purchase items and equipment needed to adequately inform parents and caregivers of the need for proper sleeping accommodations for infants.
· Mt. Vernon Ministerial Association River Bend Food Pantry to supplement the continuation of the Summer Kid's Program and to provide dairy products to the clients of River Bend Food Pantry.
· Thrive to add a second programming site and more than double the number of children they are able to serve through this expansion project.
· At the Cross-Mission Inc. to purchase food and supplies (plates, forks, spoons. etc.) to provide to-go meals for those that need them.
· Sleep in Heavenly Peace, Inc. to build and deliver beds, sheets, pillows, and blankets to local children ages 3-17 who do not have a bed.
· Willow Tree of Posey County to purchase a washer/dryer unit(s) and install and create hookups in the units at the new safe house for victims of domestic violence/sexual assault in Posey County.
· Town of Poseyville to purchase concrete flooring for the community shelter house.
· Posey County Council on Aging to cover the expense of the dumpster rental during the replacement of the Wellness Center roof.
· St. Paul's United Methodist Church for the M.A.G.I.C. (Making A Gigantic Improvement in Choices) Money Management Teaching program.
· North Elementary PTO, Inc. to complete playground improvements, in order to replace equipment that is outdated or does not meet state safety standards.
· Buffalo Trace Council, Boy Scouts of America to provide Scouting STEM kits to current Cub Scouts and distribute as part of Fall recruitment to attract future Scouts into the program in Posey County.
“Since the fund was established 18 years ago, grants to local organizations annually support programs and services that improve the quality of life for Posey County families,” says Amy Smith, Regional Director of Community Engagement and Impact. “The Women’s Fund addresses the changing needs and priorities in Posey County through a competitive grant cycle.”
The Women’s Fund Grants Selection Committee reviewed funding requests and contacted grant applicants for an interview. Once interviews concluded, the Steering Committee made recommendations on funding to the Community Foundation.
